One reason writing a book is so dang scary

Hi Reader,

Honestly, writing a book is terrifying! You're presenting a version of yourself in a very public and permanent way that you will soon leave in the past as you continue to grow. It's like time-stamping yourself. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

I was working with a client who actually stopped the project because, in her words, "My wisdom is still coming in." My heart broke a little when she said that.

I wonder how many other soul-driven books are not being written because the authors are waiting for more wisdom to come in? If this is you, I bet you have plenty of wisdom to share right now. Of course your wisdom hasn't all come in yet, and that's okay!

If all of the wise authors we love to read waited for all of their wisdom to come in before they started sharing it, our libraries would be pretty empty. Because the wisdom is never going to stop coming in.

If you have wisdom that has been changing lives in your coaching programs, courses, healing sessions--whatever you do, I'm 100% sure you can fill a book.

And after you write this first book, more wisdom will come in, and then you can write another one! ๐Ÿ“š

I was reminded of this as I was circling back to revive conversations with people who had expressed interest in working with me as their ghostwriter or book coach and wanted to be nudged "next year." It's now "next year" and I'm seeing the messages I was writing back then. Wow, there was so much I didn't know! But I couldn't wait around for my wisdom to come in, I had to go and get it.

One of the most valuable things my wisdom-gathered-along-the-way has taught me is that a well-planned book is easier to write and it goes much more quickly. There are some key elements that you as an author need to establish at the outset so your book will:

  • connects with the people you most want to reach
  • deliver your message clearly
  • and actually get finished! ๐ŸŽ‰

That's what I'm going to share in The Soul-Driven Author's Book Planning Intensive on June 13. If you've been feeling the nudge to write your book but you've been holding back, waiting for your wisdom to come in, maybe this is your sign. JOIN US. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Don't let the fear of time-stamping yourself hold you back from sharing your message with the world. Your wisdom is needed NOW. Let's get your book out of your head and onto the page together.

Keep writing!

P.P.S The goats are growing so fast! Barry here is going to need a little more wisdom to come in before he can drive away though. He will be a year old next month.

Hi Reader, I made a cartoon of my goat Precious making soap, and I had a lot of fun doing it. I never thought that would be something I could learn how to do. Yep, I used AI tools. Several of them.AI is here, like cars and cameras. You can still paint a portrait by hand if you have the skills and the time. You can still walk and ride a bike places. It's better for you and for the environment. But most of us live in places that weren't designed for bicycles and pedestrians. So much depends...

Hi Reader, Looking back over the summit interviews I've done over the years, it's interesting how many of the authors, when I asked what got them across the finish line, said something like, "I had to call the book done. My publisher was waiting for it." Someone was waiting for the book, and that's what got it finished. You've probably heard me and others talk about how a book takes a village. Beta readers who can tell you whether they're hearing what you're trying to say. A coach who helps...

Hi Reader, Three goat kids left for their new farm this week, and the milk keeps coming! 10 quarts a day. We're freezing most of it while setting up the business that will connect all this milk with people who can use it, and while building infrastructure for the intentional family we're growing. This means we're in motion from first light until the afternoon heat makes rest mandatory. In between, the time I spend on calls with clients and working on my book in the Writing Studio feels like a...
